A reading of the electoral district distribution system for municipal and provincial councils and criteria for promoting women's participation
Karak Castle Consulting and Training Centre has submitted proposals to amend the Local Administration Act from 2018 to 2021, followed by a campaign to win support for an increase in women's seats on elected councils. The center followed the issuance of the electoral district system for provincial and municipal councils in 2021, which came after the passage of the local administration law.
The Center submitted its recommendations to the Administrative Committee in the House of Representatives and the Local Administration Committee emanating from the Royal Committee to modernize the reform system. There were many demands for the amendment, but the demand for the percentage of seats allocated to women to reach the representative percentage of 30% was the focus of the advocacy campaign that it implemented Center.
Despite some reservations about what was stated in the law, the center had previously put forward some necessary amendments, the most important of which was the need to include in it a text to increase the proportion of seats allocated to women and activate their participation in local decision-making, However, the center commends what was mentioned in the remarkable increase in seats allocated to women, whether in municipal councils or in provincial councils, than was mentioned in previous laws, at a rate of approximately 30%, which is the goal around which the campaign to gain support has been implemented by the center since the beginning of the year
