Violence Against Women During Elections In Jordan - 2020 Elections
In continuation to the efforts made by the Karak Castle Center for Consultations and Training over the past years in defending women›s rights and working with various parties to reduce and eliminate the phenomenon of violence against women, especially during elections in Jordan, the Center has monitored the 2020 parliamentary elections from the perspective of electoral violence against women.
The report complements the center›s field research in collaboration with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, Jordan and Iraq Office, aimed at bridging the knowledge gap and allow any future interventions to work to reduce and prevent election-related violence against women in Jordan.
The Karak Castle Center for Consultations and Training team has monitored the elections since the beginning of the election campaigns until announcing the 2020 parliamentary elections results, between October 6th and November 15th, 2020. To execute this project, the team trained a specialized group of researchers in all 31 constituencies in the Kingdom, including the team responsible for managing and supervising the execution of this project.
Since the beginning of the campaign period, the project team conducted interviews with female candidates for the 2020 parliamentary elections where research forms on violence against women in the electoral process were prepared and the research team, on a daily basis, was trained on the mechanism of conducting this field research during October 2020.
